Nina Vanhoenacker Urban Refuge (Aperitif concert)
Urban Refuge
(aperitif concert)
With Urban Refuge , cellist Nina Vanhoenacker combines various contemporary works for cello, voice and electronics. The music interweaves into a continuous stream of sounds that forms a contemporary, meditative ritual.
Urban Refuge is not a traditional classical concert. It sounds different with every performance. Nina Vanhoenacker invites you to experience this in a personal way: lying, sitting or wandering. She builds on the tradition of happenings and sound installations by American pioneers of minimalist music who touched the audience spiritually.
Nina Vanhoenacker is a Belgian cellist specialized in contemporary classical music, both acoustic and electro-acoustic. In addition to being a solo performer, she is also a member of chamber music ensemble Extended Music Collective. In 2024 Nina was one of the Twenties of radio Klara. They put her in the spotlight for a week and gave her the opportunity to record in the legendary Toots studio.
This concert takes place in the context of STORMLoop in the new church in the Nederrij.
