Nina Vanhoenacker’s debut album is a bold and intimate portrait of the cello’s expressive possibilities, gathering recent works for solo cello

Sometimes expanded with electronics, live processing, or voice—by a range of contemporary composers. While most pieces feature her customary wooden cello, two works were recorded on a powerful flax-fiber instrument crafted in Belgium by luthier Tim Duerinck. The result is a debut that foregrounds adventurous craftsmanship, collaborative creation, and a vivid sense of place.
